A tabby kitten named Kickers came to Chatons Orphelins Montreal with her five siblings. Four of them were born with varying degrees of malformation in their legs.

Hoping for a chance to walk and run on all fours, they embarked on a new journey with the help of volunteers. They arrived in their foster home at around seven weeks old and immediately crawled up to their carers for affection.

Despite their bum legs, Kickers and her siblings tried to scoot around, eagerly wanting to navigate their room and play like other cats.

Kickers, who had one bent paw, hobbled up to her carers whenever they entered the room. “Unlike some of her siblings with two malformed legs, Kickers had one which curved inwards. We put a splint on her as soon as she arrived,” the rescue shared.

After a day of wearing the splint, Kickers grew accustomed to it and started scampering around as if nothing happened.

Her siblings also received treatment to correct their legs, putting them in the right direction. “We took advantage of their growth spurt to help reposition their paws and improve their quality of life.”

With bandages protecting their arms and elbows, Kickers and her siblings no longer felt sore or uncomfortable when moving around.

As her range of motion improved, Kickers grew more curious about her surroundings, and her personality began to shine. “She has huge back paws (with extra toes), which only adds to her cuteness when she walks.”

Her hind paws have different colored toe beans, and she loves showing them off whenever she demands attention from her people.

As Kickers became more steady on her feet, she encouraged her siblings to play, move around, and exercise their arms.

Bottine, the kitten with two twisted front legs and white paws, was nearly as active as her littermates and spent most of her time lounging on the couch. Kickers nudged her to play and showed her that despite having bandages on, they could explore, create antics, and even climb a mountain of pillows.

Kickers also keeps her two brothers, Paxx and Maxou, company, making sure no one ever feels left out.

“After ten days, Kicker’s paw almost completely straightened. She could finally land on her paw pad and immediately started running around. She was so excited to be able to play like a normal kitten.”

“Now that her paw is functional, she runs on all four legs, having a good time wherever she goes. Her right front leg has gained a lot of strength and is about 80% straight.”

Kickers has blossomed into a fearless young cat, always the first to inspect new things and share them with others. “She’s so full of life and is close to her siblings. As soon as they want to take a nap, they come to us to cuddle and purr.”
