Are you having trouble controlling an escape artist dog? Don’t feel bad if you are, because many dog owners deal with this persistent problem on a daily basis. I certainly have and it takes away from the pleasure of owning a dog. Fortunately, there are methods we can use to ensure our dog remains where he is supposed to be, so let’s take a look at a few of the things we can do to put a stop to a dog who ties to go over the wall at every opportunity.

First thing all dog owners can do to help stop the escape minded dog from desiring to roam the area is to spay the female dog and neuter the male dog. Many times the urge to breed is what drives a dog to dig under the fence, dart out an open door, and jump free of enclosures. Speak to your vet about this and get their opinion about having these procedures done to your dog.

Provide the dog with daily exercise. This can be through playing in the yard or taking a nice long walk. Often a dog becomes a break-out artist because they receive little to no exercise. Dogs require daily exercise and if the owner does not provide this the dog will do what he or she has to get free for a romp through the neighborhood.
