This one of those more disgusting subjects many puppies are prone to do. Your puppy eats his poop, and it is enough to make you feel like shouting at your shoes. Are there any remedies for this habit? Well, there are a few things we can attempt to stop the fact your puppy eats his poop.
First we should point out your puppy is not strange because he does this. It is natural behavior since it is learned from the mother as she keeps the “den” clean. It is more common than many dog owners realize.
The most important point is to NOT startle the puppy by making a big issue out of it. Most grow out of it quickly.
Start to help the puppy break this habit by not allowing him or her to go near any defecation if possible. Sometimes this cannot be avoided when you have the pup out for play time in the yard, or for a walk in the park. One moment of distraction and if there is any poop close by the pup may decide to chow down.
