A cat stumbled into a yard seeking help and was “more than sweet.” Now, she takes her trusty teddy with her everywhere.

One weekend, a scraggly cat stumbled into the yard of a family, scrounging around for food. Starved and emaciated, she mustered all her strength to meow when her finder approached her.
“The finder said the cat is more than sweet but nothing but skin and bones and desperate for help,” Sarah Kelly, founder of Murphy’s Law Animal Rescue, shared.
As soon as Sarah and her team received the rescue request, they leaped into action. Lovingly named Bagel, the tabby cat urgently needed a soft landing.

Jennifer, a volunteer for the rescue, stepped up and opened her home to foster Bagel. Despite her frail condition, Bagel, a senior, never ceased her sweet meows and soft purrs as if to thank Jennifer for taking her in.
“After being seen as soon as she could Monday, it was evident that at less than four pounds, it was a miracle that this lady was still alive.”

Bagel spent a night at the hospital getting fluids and treatment with round-the-clock TLC from the veterinary team. “She still has a long journey ahead of her to heal and recover from what appears to be near-starvation.”
The finder graciously covered Bagel’s initial vet care and was relieved to know she was finally in good hands.

After a few days in a comfortable home, Jennifer discovered Bagel’s favorite thing – treats. “She thoroughly enjoys them as she adjusts to her new pampered lifestyle. She’s loving the level of care that her foster mom is giving her.”
A few weeks after Bagel was rescued, they celebrated a significant milestone as she reached the 5-pound mark.

She began exploring more as she gained muscle mass and strength. She’d walk up to her foster mom and brush against her, always grateful for her presence and the treats she brought along.
“She’s being doted on by her excellent foster and soaking up all the TLC she’s ever missed out on. We are so thankful this lady is starting to put on weight steadily.”

When Bagel was gifted a little teddy bear to keep her company, she cherished it wholeheartedly and took it everywhere with her.
She loves her soft beds, bountiful food, snuggle toys, and all the affection from her people. She sleeps soundly at night with a full belly now that she no longer has to worry about tomorrow.

Bagel is often seen with her teddy by her side, watching over her as she dreams of a bottomless bowl of treats, warm laps to curl up on, and spirited play with feathery toys.
Motivated by food, the sweet senior is slowly filling out, and her coat is turning soft and gleaming.

She spends most of her time snoozing in her comfy beds with her trusty teddy nearby. She now walks with a spring in her step, and her gait has grown sturdier and more robust.
“She is living out her days snuggling, sleeping, and enjoying some treats. Her ‘sweet tooth’ is one of the ways this senior lady can be spoiled.”

“Bagel has been a bright spot in a tough year, and we are so grateful to have been able to give her this time and TLC after all she lived through.”
Wherever she is, her teddy follows.
