A cat took shelter in a neighbor’s storage cupboard, eventually finding a place where he could be king.

Earlier this year, a sweet tabby cat named Glen arrived at the Stray Cat Club in search of a loving home.

When they scanned the microchip and contacted his owner, they uncovered Glen’s mysterious and heartbreaking past. He had originally been a stray until a family took him in five years ago.

“When the family had children, Glen began disappearing for days at a time until he moved into a neighbor’s bin storage cupboard to keep warm and dry,” the Stray Cat Club shared.

The kind neighbor started feeding him and asking the community if anyone was missing a cat. “No one came forward until we became involved.”

Though Glen’s family tried to reintroduce him to their home, he spent his days hiding under the bed, only coming out for food. Ultimately, he was surrendered to the rescue, where volunteers were determined to find him the best home.

It didn’t take long for Glen to settle into foster care once he felt comfortable. “His initial hiss was just a defense mechanism.”

Once he warmed up to his new environment, he came out of his shell and started seeking attention from his foster family. “He follows his fosterer around and purrs the moment you speak to him.”

Glen lounged on the couch, resting his head on the armrest like his throne. He seemed so content to have a quiet space to relax and a kind human to keep him company. He melted into their petting, never getting enough of those head scratches.

It was clear that Glen thrived as the center of attention in the household, with everyone catering to his whims.

“We’re overjoyed that Glen is safe. We’re confident he’ll find a loving forever home soon—he deserves nothing less.”

With that goal in mind, the rescue began sharing his story, hoping it would quickly reach the right family. Weeks passed with no applications, but Glen remained unfazed, continuing to live life to the fullest, showing off his acrobatic skills during playtime.

When Glen first arrived at the rescue, he bore old facial injuries that had healed, giving him “a slightly unusual appearance, but that only makes him more special. At around seven years old, Glen is in great health and has so much love to give.”

“He is proving to be an absolute sweetheart. He adores attention and will happily join you in bed for snuggles.”

They discovered what made Glen happy and what made him tick. A serene environment, free from little humans or other animals, made him feel secure and brought out his cuddly side.

The rescue set out to find him the perfect home where he could be the one and only, treated like royalty.

Glen frequently perched on the windowsill, basking in the warm sunlight and glowing in its golden hue. Whenever he saw his fosterer, he’d meow so intently, crinkling his nose in the most adorable way.

After a month of waiting, Glen’s dream finally came true last weekend.
