A stray kitten was so excited when a driver stopped to help. Months later, his wish came true with another cat.

While on her way home from grocery shopping, Tammy noticed a bag of trash on the side of the road near her house.
She decided to pull over to pick it up, but as she got near, she was surprised by what she discovered. “A kitten popped his head out of an opening to greet her,” Stephanie Grantham, the founder of Sparkle Cat Rescue, shared.
The kitten immediately started purring, seeking affection from Tammy.

Tammy scooped him up and brought him home, where she gently wiped him down with a washcloth and offered him a full plate of food. The little one was so hungry that he licked the plate clean.
Estimated to be nine weeks old, the kitten named Dexter was dirty but otherwise in good shape.

“He hasn’t been on his own for long, but no one around (the area) knows where he came from.”
Tammy reached out to Stephanie and asked if she could take in a little roadside kitten. Erin and Lauren, foster volunteers with the rescue, jumped into action, welcoming the little tabby into their home.

Dexter quickly settled in, exploring every nook and cranny like a tiny adventurer. He was fascinated by the running water from the tap and began trailing his people around the house, “helping” with chores.
“He loves to be snuggled, and he follows foster mom Erin around all day like a little shadow when he’s not playing with the other kittens.”

“We will never know if he was put in the bag or if he was a hitchhiker under a car and sought refuge once he got on the ground. But we do know we will find him the best home ever.”
Dexter could turn any soft spot into his cozy bed, snoozing without a care in the world. A few weeks after his rescue, Dexter met another cat with a similar beginning.

About 30 miles from where Dexter was found, a kind couple rescued a tuxedo kitten named Walter from the roadside and brought him to Sparkle Cat.
Overnight, Walter came out of his shell in foster care, walking around his new space with his tail held high. “He is so glad he’s not still out on the streets. He’s living the life, checking out all the comfy sleeping places.”

Before long, his affectionate and cuddly personality shone through. When he met the rest of the house, Dexter instantly took to him, and they started romping around like life-long friends.
The two kittens grew closer every day, seeking each other out for playtime and snuggling up together when they needed to recharge.

“They run around wrestling and chasing each other all day. Walter loves being held and cuddled. Dexter is his best friend.”
Having come from similar paths, they became inseparable friends in their foster home. As they were ready for adoption, Stephanie was determined to find them a loving home together.

After weeks of waiting and hoping, their dream came true yesterday morning. A family fell in love with the pair and knew they had found their perfect companions.
