A smart cat saved himself by trying to get into an apartment. He immediately melted into a warm lap once he was safe.

Rosen, a gray tabby, found himself abandoned outside, wandering around an apartment building for days or possibly weeks, crying for his family, but no one showed up to claim him.
“Then, there was a fire in the building, and miraculously, he survived,” Annie, a foster volunteer for Little Wanderers NYC, shared with Love Meow. “Despite all he endured, he had no family to go home to.”
Without anyone coming to his aid, the cat decided to take matters into his own paws.

“This smart boy rescued himself. He walked through the fire escape into a neighbor’s apartment, and they kindly contacted Little Wanderers NYC.”
Rosen plopped down on the floor and started making “biscuits,” charming the neighbor with his friendly and affectionate personality. “He rolls around, wants cuddles, and is just about the sweetest cat ever,” Little Wanderers NYC shared.

After getting all the necessary treatment and care at the vet, Rosen settled into a kennel, eagerly waiting for someone to open their home to him. Around that time, Annie received an urgent foster request about Rosen.
“When I saw him in a cage at the vet, I knew I had to bring this little guy home. As soon as I met Rosen, I knew he was special,” Annie told Love Meow.

“The moment I opened his carrier, he leaped into my lap, purring and asking for pets with a big smile. I’ve had my fair share of foster cats but never met one like Rosen.”
Rescued cats typically take a few days or weeks to adjust and warm up to their new caretaker, but not Rosen.
He was an instant lap cat when he arrived at his foster homeAnnie
“He felt safe immediately and was ready to be loved. He’s a true lap cat who will follow you around the house and wait for the moment you sit down so he can curl up in your lap.”
“I couldn’t believe such a loving cat had been abandoned on the streets. When we brought Rosen home, he reeked of smoke.”

Rosen felt totally at ease, seeking cuddles from his foster family and filling the room with his contented purrs. Seconds after touching a soft blanket, he began kneading it with his happy paws.
Within minutes after arriving, Rosen blossomed into a love bug, a full-time lap cat.

Now, he follows his foster mom around, brushing against her legs before curling up in her lap.
While his past remains a mystery, one thing is certain: Rosen’s future will be filled with pampering from here on out. At 1.5 years old, he is still a kitten at heart and enjoys being cradled like a baby.
Nothing makes him happier than cuddling with his peopleAnnie
Nestled against his people, Rosen peacefully drifts off to sleep. Nothing brings him more joy than being in good company, basking in their love and attention.
“He’s looking for his forever family who will love him unconditionally, just as he will love them.”

Even after everything he had endured, Rosen never lost hope of finding someone to help him.
Now, with a roof over his head, a full belly, and a kind human to care for him, he can finally rest soundly without a care in the world.
